WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty

The WPPT has 86 contracting parties and deals with intellectual property rights of two kinds of beneficiaries: performers (actors, singers, musicians, etc.) and producers of phonograms (the persons or legal entities who or which take the initiative and have the responsibility for the fixation of the sounds). It stipulates the rights of performers and producers of phonograms to reproduce, distribute, rent out and make available their work, with a term of protection of at least 50 years.
