Seminar on feasibility of China’s accession to UPOV ‘91

IP Key, China’s Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), and China’s State Forestry Administration (SFA) will hold a seminar on April 13th 2017 at MoA in Beijing to discuss the feasibility of China’s accession to UPOV ’91. The seminar seeks to achieve two objectives: (1) to allow the Chinese academics and Chinese government researchers that have worked on a feasibility study of China’s potential accession to UPOV ’91 for one year under the framework of IP Key to present this study; and (2) to provide a chance for key stakeholders to discuss the findings of this study and related topics. There will be approximately 30-50 select stakeholders at this event, including: high-ranking officials from MoA and SFA, potentially high-ranking government officials from other areas of the Chinese government, the President of CPVO, senior representations from UPOV (tbc), former president of CPVO, ministers from EC bodies, high-level diplomatic representatives from EU Member States, prominent Chinese academics, and key leaders from associations in China and the EU.

This activity follows on from the Study Visit to Europe to investigate the feasibility of China’s accession to UPOV ’91 held in July 2016.
